When you are enjoying a fabulous day on the slopes of Meribel, there is no need to drop back into the resort when you start to get peckish at lunchtime. There are a variety of mountain restaurants for you to enjoy before carrying on with your day’s skiing. Here are our top four:
The Nuvoself
Part of the Folie Douce experience, this self-service style restaurant is perfect for a quick bowl of soup or spaghetti bolognese, offering great food at great prices.
The Fruitiere
Whilst also part of the Folie Douce experience, The Fruitiere is a little more special, with the interiors inspired by the mountain dairies of old. The food is fabulous, and the service is quick and efficient. With specials such as shepherd’s pie with duck breast, and classics such as dry aged beef burger, there really is something to please everyone. In fact, everything on the menu is so tempting, that you might have difficulty making a decision. Once you have finished eating, it is always worth staying for some Folie Douce style cabaret when the mountain is brought to life with musicians and dancers. Luckily it’s only a short ski back to the resort, should you choose to stay to the very end.
Le Panoramic
situated at the top of the Saulire mountain, between the resorts of Meribel and Courchevel 1850, this restaurant offers amazing panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The restaurant is warm and welcoming and has a small but delicious menu. The Beaufort tart, made from local speciality cheese accompanied by a green salad, comes highly recommended. This restaurant offers easy access to non skiers too who can take the Saulire Express from the Chaudanne in Meribel or the Pas du Lac in Mottaret, bringing them out just a short walk away.
Le Roc Tania
This restaurant is situated between Courchevel, La Tania and Meribel. It can be accessed by the Loze chairlift from the Altiport in Meribel. There are fabulous 360 degree views from this alpine log cabin restaurant. The pastas and salads are excellent, but whatever you do, don’t miss the of Tartiflette. The large sunny terrace makes this a great spot for lunch when the weather is good. Once lunch is over it is very tempting to move straight into a deckchair and soak up the mountain sun. When it’s not so warm outside, the large fire place is equally inviting. An easy blue run will take you right back to Meribel.
