For one week only 14th-20th October 2013 the UK will play host to Chocolate Week 2013. An event designed to promote and celebrate artisan chocolate produced by top chocolatiers and chocolate companies, there will be lots going on in London in particular. A highlight will be Salon du Chocolat, held on 18th-20th October 2013 at the National Hall, Olympia. This event will host the best UK chocolate companies alongside exciting international brands, plus demonstrations, talks and hands-on workshops from the UKs top chocolatiers, plus a catwalk show with outfits made from nothing but chocolate!
London Bicycle Film Festival
The original Bicycle Film Festival began in New York and it now takes place in cities all over the world, including London from 3rd-6th October 2013. Venues include the Barbican and Hackney Downs Studios, where the opening night party will be held. Its a must for anyone with an interest in cycling. As well as film screenings, there are cycling events each day, including a womens track racing day at Herne Hill, a bike polo tournament at Newington Courts, and a leisurely Sunday ride starting from Chelmsford.
London Cocktail Week
If youre looking for something a little less taxing, then London Cocktail Week could be the place for you. This year, its being held from 7th-13th October in 160 bar venues all over the city. Buy a 10 wristband in advance and then enjoy the finest cocktails for just 4 during the week itself. Tons of events are taking place, from bar tours and tutored tastings to late-night parties and movie screenings. It looks like a lot of fun.
Frieze Art Fair
This major event on the arty calendar is a seriously posh affair. Held in 2013 from 17th-20th October in Regents Park, Frieze serves up a visual feast from over 150 contemporary art galleries from around the world. Its a very influential event which draws anyone and everyone from the art world to central London. Even if you dont know much about modern art, its a fun place to be, with a sculpture garden, guided tours, talks, films and performances alongside the exhibitions.
