The Macallan, makers of some of the finest single malts, teamed with the masters of glassmaking, Lalique, to create an elegant new $12,000 home for its very rare 55-year-old whiskey. The “natural colour” decanter was designed with a stunning amber-hued stopper and a subtle colour gradient to enhance the spirit held within. And what a spirit! Undisturbed for over half a century in sherry-oak casks at the distillery’s Easter Elchies House in Speyside, Scotland, the whiskey reveals a marvellous complexity of dried fruits and peat smoke with a citrus finish.
