There are so many ways to have a good time in Costa Rica. There are lots of towns that have a reputation for a good night out like Jaco and Tamarindo. Most guide books talk about the day time activities full of volcanoes, wildlife and surfing. These are all obviously incredible aspects to an equally incredible country but here are some ideas for nocturnal fun whist visiting the Rich Coast.
Night jungle tour
Try the night jungle tour with Lapa Rios hotel in the Oso Peninsula. Experience the magic of the rainforest at night! Use your flashlight, and the help of a guide, to uncover unusual nocturnal creatures and their habitats. A great opportunity to see frogs, bats, insects, kinkajous and other wonders of this hidden, moonlit world.
Party in San Jose
If you are looking for a party in San Jose, you need to visit Vertigo. Don’t be fooled by the conservative location of Vertigo. It’s a popular club that features special events throughout the year with DJs spinning the latest house, techno, and hip hop music. Considered one of the leading clubs in Central America, Club Vertigo has hosted some of the best parties with the world’s top DJs and has recently undergone a major makeover including a brand new state-of-the-art sound system.
Watch turtles lay their eggs
Watch turtles lay their eggs at night on the beaches of Tortuguero. If you come to Tortuguero between April and October, you can have an opportunity to see giant sea turtles laying their eggs on the beach outside the town at night. Tortuguero is a primary Atlantic nesting site for the green turtle, but if you come early in the turtle season you might even be lucky enough to sea a larger-than-life Leatherback turtle. There are guided tours every night during this season. A really special experience.
Envision Festival
If you are in Costa Rica 25th to 28th February 2016 and want to party, then get online and buy a ticket for the Envision Festival down near Dominical. This ever growing festival is gathering steam this year and will be bigger and better than ever. It has only been going for a little while but is getting a great reputation. It is run by part of the Burning Man crew, well put together and on a pretty fabulous beach… what more could you want from a tropical festival?
