West Wittering, West Sussex
This shot of unspoilt white sand has been a classic British beach destination for generations of sun worshippers and has been awarded a Blue Flag as one of the finest beaches in the country. Backed by the incredible hills and sweeping chalk lands of the South Downs renowned for its rich wildlife here the English countryside meets the sea with mounds of neatly mown grass falling into powder soft sands and shallow lagoons. Huddled within Dorsets spectacular Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site encompassing 95 miles of spectacular fossil-flecked shoreline, the turquoise waters that lap this crescent of white shingle could rival that of any Mediterranean beach. Whipsidery, Newquay, Cornwall
The golden sands of Cornwall have long been a draw for sun-seekers in Britain a beach lovers paradise where Atlantic swells create world-class surf and grassy cliff tops promise incredible views. Whipsidery beach is a lesser known haven of rock pools and smugglers caves where youll be able to escape the crowds. Cocooned by steep cliffs, it is a little tricky to access but offers a picturesque sun spot that is well worth the effort for its natural beauty.
Bamburgh, Northumberland
Dramatic panoramas are the name of the game at Bamburgh. An impossibly vast beach that stretches across the rugged Northumberland shoreline, it is crowned by the dark and brooding Bamburgh Castle which perches above its windswept coast. The sheer size of this award-winning beach means youll easily find your own private slice of sand to enjoy the cinematic views. Just make sure to pack your camera.
Achmelvich Beach, Sutherland, Scotland
There arent many British beaches that can boast pure white sands but Scotlands Achmelvich Beachs unspoilt ivory expanse certainly delivers on this promise and is arguably one of the most stunning beaches in all of Britain. Like most hidden treasures however, you have to journey a little farther to find it the three miles of single track road from Lochinver that lead to its alabaster shores is not for the faint of heart but, you will be rewarded with magical sea views and the chance to spot dolphins and whales.
