The three valleys ski area is undoubtedly the most extensive and well connected in France, if not the world. Providing access to 8 different ski areas; Courchevel, La Tania, Brides-les-Bains, Meribel, Les Menuires, St Martin de Belleville, Val Thorens and Orelle. There are over 600km of pistes which are serviced by 183 lifts giving you access to 25 accessible summits.
There are a great variety of pistes for beginners through to expert, here are our favourites:
Folyeres
This blue run takes you from the edge of Courchevel down into the family resort of La Tania. This tree lined piste winds down through the forest and is perfect for when the visibility is a little poor. The resort is slightly lower than the others but it benefits from well located snow cannons which ensure good conditions throughout the season. Lovely long piste to be enjoyed by the whole family.
Jockeys
This is a black run taking you down through the trees into Le Praz which is one of the lowest resorts in the Courchevel Valley, only to be enjoyed when there is great snow, this is a challenge to be rewarded by a drink in one of the cute little bars at the bottom.
Red Combe Vallon
This is one of the longest pistes and is located in the Meribel valley, it starts from the top of the Mont du Vallon gondola at a height of 2952m and then drops you 1000m in altitude. The north facing location ensures that the snow coverage is tip top at all times. If you manage this one without stopping then you can be sure your legs are in pretty good condition. If you feel the need to stop, then there are great views over Mottaret and the Lac Tueda.
Suisses
This is a black piste located above Courchevel 1850, the top is steep and for those who like moguls then this is for you. For the rest of us there is a side piste which takes out the top section. This is a run to be enjoyed first thing and only when there is good snow coverage. Watch out for your audience as they go above you on the Suisse chairlift.
Jerusalem
This is our absolute favourite, a wide rolling red piste from the top of the Meribel valley and is generally pretty quiet. It takes you down to the traditional Alpine village of St Martin de Belleville in the Val Thorens valley. This is a piste which makes you feel great and takes you to a perfect location for lunch too.
