The location

Tucked away in the lush Ourimbah Valley, on the western edge of the NSW central coast, On Bumbles Creek is a rural property set in bushland adjacent to a rainforest sanctuary. Part of the hinterland region of the central coast, this is a nature-lover's paradise where wilderness and adventure combine to create a wonderful family playground.

The place

This chic and comfortable architect-designed house possesses oodles of character and charm. Based on a hexagonal design, the bright sandstone and timber building has high ceilings and contemporary, polished-cedar interiors. Two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms are positioned at either end of the house (a third, a short, covered-walk away, is at the back of the property). In the middle, the large living area comprises a lounge with open fireplace and kitchen. This eco-friendly accommodation has been built to be cool in summer and warm in winter. All of the rooms have floor-to-ceiling french doors that open onto well-maintained grounds and admit plenty of natural light. Guests are invited to make full use of the house's quality bedlinen, bathroom toiletries, kitchen appliances, books, games and the impressive display of herbs and condiments in the pantry.

The experience

This is a place where you go to switch off in every sense: there's no TV, Wi-Fi or phone reception. Drink in the peace and listen to the birds: more than 100 species are known to be present in the area. Explore the Forest of Tranquility next door, which offers five kilometres of walking trails as well as children's play equipment. Feeling adventurous? Treetops Adventure Park in nearby Ourimbah State Forest offers plenty of challenges to young and old in a beautiful, natural setting.

Don't miss

The NSW central coast offers visitors no shortage of things to see and do. If you're not tempted by the wonderful beaches, other options, including horse-riding, quad-biking, kayaking and abseiling, await at Glenworth Valley, just 20 minutes away by car.
