Surf Series in Bali and Lombok
During the Rip Curl GromSearch, which has been running in Indonesia for 11 consecutive years, the event has uncovered some incredible talents from all over the country, including Garut Widiarta, Oney Anwar, Putra Hermawan, Raju Sena and more.
The Rip Curl GromSearch provides an opportunity for "Grommets" to win valuable ASC points, which will go toward deciding the end of year ASC Junior Champion. The Rip Curl GromSearch series was started in Australia in 1999, giving surfers aged 16 and under the opportunity to show off their talents in a fun, friendly but competitive environment.
This year surf fanatics can watch young surfers from all over South East Asia do battle for the prestigious title of Rip Curl GromSearch 2015 Champion as the Global Youth Surfing Series returns to some of South East Asia’s best known surf spots.
Rip Curl have settled for qualifying events to be held all over South East Asia, including Indonesia’s beaches in Lombok, Bali, Java and then Phuket Beach in Thailand. The venue for the Finals is still to be announced. The 5 locations will decide 4 regional finalists who will make the cut to get an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the National Finals scheduled to take place on the 10th – 11th October "Somewhere" in Indonesia. The SE Final event location will be revealed at a later date but you can be assured that Rip Curl have one of Indonesia's best waves in mind to crown this year’s overall winners!

Where and When
Rip Curl GromSearch 2015 South East Asia Series Schedule:
Rip Curl have decided to stage their GromSearch surfing competition in 5 of South East Asia’s best locations for 2015 Series. The venues are:
1st series: 29th March at Seger Beach - Kuta, Lombok.
2nd series: 12th April at Padma Beach - Legian, Bali.
3rd series: 10th May at Krakal Beach in Mid-Java.
4th series: 6th September at Phuket Beach, Thailand.
5th series: 10th – 11th October, the National Final “Somewhere in Indonesia”.
Note that the first event of the season is due to start on March 29th at Seger Beach - Kuta LOMBOK.
There are still places; the Heat is not full; registration will be open to participants from outside the regional area.
Only South East Asia Passport holders can qualify for National Finals and receive the ticket to International Finals.
Surf at Gerupuk, South Lombok
Divisions :
Under 16, under 14 and under 12 divisions for both Boys and Girls.
National Final is for Under 16’s Boys Division only.

Rip Curl will send the winner of the under-16 Boys Division to the International Finals to represent Indonesia.
Multiple entries are allowed even if the surfer has already qualified for a place in the National Finals through a previous event.
In the case where a surfer reaches the podium qualifying for a place in the National Finals but already has a spot, his place will be given to the next highest placed Indonesian Surfer but he will retain his prizes and ASC points.
At each event a minimum of 1 highest placed Local Boardrider will receive a place in the National Finals
Example:
4 South East Asia Surfers reach the podium. All surfers are not from local Boardrider club. 1st, 2nd and 3rd get tickets to National Finals – 4th place is replaced by the Highest placed local Boardrider member.
This format will give the opportunity for at least one surfer from each region to get a space in the National Finals.
Participants are only permitted to enter ONE CATEGORY per event.
To enter the under 16’s division you cannot be turning 17 or older on or before the 31st December 2015.
To enter the Under 14’s division you cannot be turning 15 or older on or before the 31st December 2015.
