West Bali is probably the least visited area on the island and an area not yet fully on the tourist agenda. There are of course a few places heavily patronised by tourists but on the whole it remains off-the-tourist-track. I have always found this intriguing because there are some excellent hotels along its coastline.
Being a sparsely populated area and one of dry conditions compared to the rest of Bali it still has numerous rugged mountainous areas. West Bali’s relative isolation and the distance between towns and the tourism objects tend to make it less appealing. However, if one takes the time to explore West Bali then the rewards are many.
Considering it is only 128 kilometres from Denpasar to its far western point at Gilamanuk, the area of West Bali encompasses a large part of Bali regardless of its barren land in the coastal regions. Here are a few places you might like to check out:
