The diversity of the cultures across the archipelago has never ceased to amaze me. In Bali one can easily find cultural objects and the most popular amongst tourists seems to wayang kulit (leather puppets) and topeng (masks).
I have a diverse collection of cultural objects from around Indonesia including around 70 topeng and over 40 kris. One of my favourite pursuits is rummaging around antique markets and oddity shops. On occasions I come across some well-crafted objects that I find most desirable and add them to my collection.
We were up country at Pura Kehen in Bangli recently and it was there in a small shop I came across some Wayang Golek; full sized puppets whose origin is from West Java.
