I have this great passion for markets and there are numerous in Bali; some good and some that are totally gross. The general tourist markets like Kuta Art Market in Tuban are fun to walk around and watch the haggling and trading but the best markets to visit are, in my opinion, the traditional markets. You will find these in just about every village and town on the island. However, one of my favourites is the Badung market in Denpasar. It is so rich and alive with colour and activity as well as having some delicious traditional Balinese food for sale.
One hint – get there early in the morning because the later the morning becomes, the hotter and busier it is. A good idea is to get to the market as early as possible, stroll around and have breakfast, then carry on to the Denpasar Museum and visit Pura Jagatnatha located directly next door. Great way to spend a morning!
