There are times when you travel around the island when right out of nowhere a pleasant surprise befalls your eyes. This I what I like about driving around the mountainous areas of Bali. Winding bends in the upper regions of Central Bali more often than not surrender the most unusual delights and especially if you are driving on roads off the so-called tourist track. I recall doing an almost 360 degree turn on a narrow road this particular day and caught a glimpse of a small temple just to the side of the road and set back. At that time, all the temples in Bali were being dressed for Galungan and the Pura Dalem Surya near the village of Baha was decorated in splendour.
