Responsible ecotourism includes those places or organisations that minimize the negative aspects of conventional tourism on the environment and enhance the cultural integrity of local people as well as evaluating environmental and cultural factors. These are integral parts of ecotourism and include the promotion of recycling, energy efficiency, water conservation, and creation of economic opportunities for the local communities. Novotel Benoa Bali is the first Accor hotel in Asia to achieve Green Globe Certified, a Green Globe qualification which recognises the hotel’s commitment to successfully implement an integrated Environmental Management System to benefit the environment. Located at the edge of Nusa Dua, the Novotel Benoa Bali overlooks the beaches of Tanjung Benoa. The resort has been created using traditional Balinese architecture which provides a unique atmosphere set within luscious tropical gardens. I might be dreaming but, wouldn’t it be excellent if all hotels in Bali, including losmens, adopted this environmental policy. I suppose only time will tell but ecotourism is a fast-growing industry and more and more travellers are eco-conscious.
