Alleycats is an English style restaurant in the heart of Kuta. Its owner is Matt from England, who not only is a very nice guy, but knows how to bang out some decent food.
Alleycats opened in 2005 in the small gang (alley) next to Made’s Warung on Poppies I. Recently Matt moved the restaurant to its present location, a much more spacious place on Poppies Lane II. True to its name, Alleycats is down the end of an alley and a bit hard to find. What you do find is an open area with tables and chairs, a bar area and a pool table, plus a reading area. The menu is the same featuring English favourites and Indian specialties. This evening I had the goulash with mashed potatoes…excellent! Alleycat is located about 10 meters from Internet Outpost on the same side of the street. Look for the sign and go down the alley.
Alleycats’s menu features some truly scary items including the Monster Mixed Grill, an oval plate covered in meat and the 2ft baguette filled with steak, peppers and onions. Big breakfasts are a trademark as are Sunday roasts. Let’s hope Alleycats is around for a while.
