The 5th anniversary of the 2002 Kuta bombings will be with us soon. Friday October 12th 2007 will be 5 years to the day that terrorists bombed the Sari Kuta and Paddy’s Irish Bar in Kuta, killing 202 innocent people. For some people the bombing anniversary has become a pilgrimage, for others something they cannot face.
Many friends and relatives of the victims of the attacks on the Sari Club and Paddy’s, feel some comfort at the fact that the annual memorial service draws such attention. For others the sense of loss does not get any better. One parent who lost a son feels that this coming anniversary of the Bali Bombings may be his last.
For visitors to Bali hoping to attend the Kuta bombing memorial service, it seems to get earlier every year. Location is Jl. Legian and Poppies II, the site of the bombing memorial monument. Will probably kick off at 8am, although the authorities may have something special planned.
