Legian was the up and coming tourist area in the late 80′s, early 90′s. As far as expats were concerned Goa Cafe, located on Jl. Legian and Double Six, was the center of the universe and in the days before internet and cell phones, was the place you’d find people. In the years since Legian has become a mass of budget- mid range accommodation and family restaurants, relying heavily on the Australian market. Blue Ocean Beach is about as cosmopolitan as Legian gets, the 200 meter strip of bars and bechside restaurants drawing tourists from all over including a selection of long time expats.
