nusa duaAny Google search for hotels in Bali will brings up a range of options including those located in Nusa Dua. For people who haven’t yet been to Bali, here is a little information about Nusa Dua. The complex is a custom built set of 20 resorts on the eastern side of the Bukit peninsula. It is the most atypical part of Bali as far as culture, design and luxury.

Why do you stay in Nusa Dua:
Nusa Dua offers an amazing selection of resorts, that are located on the beach, all within 20
minutes of the airport. That combination is what drives the place and for some visitors to Bali,
Nusa Dua is just what they are looking for. Nusa Dua is designed to make guests feel comfortable in every way possible. As well as fantastic resort facilities, every effort has been made to eliminate factors that may hinder a guest’s enjoyment. All main access routes to the Nusa Dua complex have a ‘gate’, which staffed by security staff, stopping vehicles to check on people coming and going. As a private complex, locals are not allowed to sell trinkets, set up a handicrafts store on the side walk or drag a bakso cart around.

Nusa Dua was never a heavily populated area, so without a reason to enter the complex, most locals stay away from the complex, meaning traffic levels are low and the place is quiet. Outside the main gate is the small local community, in the small desa’s of Peken, Balikembar, Bualu Indah, Pande and Penyarikan.

Where do you stay in Nusa Dua:
The Nusa Dua / Bualu area is home to the Amanusa, Bali Hilton, Swiss Bel Hotel, Putri Bali, Grand Hyatt Bali, Melia Bali, Sheraton, Bali Gonzaga, Nusa Dua Beach, Balidesa Suites, Club Med.

Budget Accommodation:
Nusa Dua is not the place to go if you are looking for budget accommodation. Anywhere inside the complex proper will be a high standard hotel with a price to match. Bualu will be the cheapest area.

Restaurants:
All Nusa Dua resort hotels and restaurants, some with 5. Should you decide to leave your hotel you will be able to eat at any one of the restaurant in the Bali Collection shopping complex. Restaurants inside Bali Collection are open for lunch and dinner.

Activities:
The Bali Golf & Country Club is located just south of the Bali Hilton. This is an 18 hole course and is most comfortable in the early morning hours as the temperature is pleasantly cool. Most hotels will organize day trips, diving and provide water-sport equipment.

Shopping:
The Bali Collection Shopping Center is a great place to stock up on drinks, snacks and souvenirs.

Nightlife:
Hotels often put on something for their guests and the Bali Collection does too, whether it be a
band or jazz music. An alternative to the Nusa Dua complex for guests is the small string of
restaurants directly to the west, on Jl. Pantai Mengiat. There are several places serving food and drinks, many with musical acts. For real partiers, you have to go to Kuta / Seminyak for anything that resembles hedonistic nightlife.

Local interest:
For some local interaction, go out of the main gate and turn left. You run into local shops, a
school and all kind of nice people that you won’t see inside the resort.

Getting around:
Nusa Dua is a perfect place to ride a bicycle. Roads are excellent, traffic is light, there are very few locals and the terrain is flat. Walking between resorts around the complex would be very tiring in the tropical heat. Many hotels will provide bicycles for guests and this would be a pleasant way to get around. The free Shuttle Bus operates from 9am-around 10pm, serving the Bali Collection and 20 hotels.

Beaches:
Nusa Dua has plenty of good beaches, stretching north towards Tanjung Benoa, between the 2
‘islands’ (the local favourite on Sundays) and stretching south to Pantai Geger (the expat favourite on Sundays).
