Bali is somewhat of a backwater as far as business in concerned, but is a major tourist destination. A dozen or so foreign consulates are based in the Denpasar / Sanur area in Bali, which is great for tourists, expats and foreign criminals who require assistance.
The consualte scene in Bali is a rather low-key affair, with some countries prefering to allow another’s consulate handle their citizens. The British consulate used to be in the Cat & Fiddle pub until a couple of years ago when both moved to separate locations. In general consulates can advice on visa / passport issues, but a trip to Jakarta may be necessary in order to obtain a visa / passport.
Here is a list of the foreign consulates in Bali.

In order to speak to a consular officer, contact the office by phone and make an appointment. Make sure you have all relevant documents with you including passport, other photo ID, visa info, extra photos and anything else you think might be needed. Do not bring knives or other such objects as security is more of an issue these days.
