Ika got checked out today at SOS International clinic. The service was fast and professional. I felt comfortable with their testing as the doctor explained to me in English what was going on. One nice aspect of SOS was the little kid’s areas at the front. Jevon and myself played with Lego, plastic blocks, a wooden puzzle and other things. He now tells us when he wants the bathroom (“mau pee pees”) and did so on 2 occasions at SOS.
As we were about to leave, a shower dampened the parking area. We decided to head out, even though my poncho was back at the house. The 15 minute trip was the wettest one I’ve taken all year. We got dumped on, with the cold rain lashing down. The Sunset Rd was awash, with one lane partially unusable for bikes. Showing up at the house like drowned rats, I asked Ika if she was still feeling hot. Jevon somehow managed to sleep all the way, even though he got a soaking. An hour later the sun was out and so was I, sporting my wide brimmed hat so not to get torched. Its an exciting climate we live in, very active and full of surprises.
We’re still waiting for the final conclusion on Ika. They couldn’t find any trace of malaria, but still hadn’t done a dengue test. The doctor told me many things have the same symptoms, typhoid for example. Will be nice to find out an get the medication rolling.

Update: Receiving a call from the doctor at 7pm this evening, I learned Ika has typhoid. He advised me to pick up some medication, which is super convenient as SOS is open 24 hours a day. My medication package consisted of 14 days of pills, for 288,000rp. I hope Ika gets better and its good to finally know what’s up with her.
