Three members of the Bali Nine drug smuggling gang, had no luck with Indonesia’s Constitutional Appeals Court. Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran and Scott Rush were attempting to get their death sentences ruled illegal, as the Indonesian constitution acknowledges the ‘right to life’.
When this was going through, my thoughts were if Indonesia executes other criminals (which it does), that claim is obviously not a barrier. The 3 Australians were denied by the court, for the unbelievable reason that they are foreingers! (Its okay to kill you, but we can’t listen to you). I reckon they make these rules up as they go along.
We haven’t heard the last of this case by a long way, so don’t be surprised if some of the underlings catch a break down the line.
