Sitting here at Joulla’s German restaurant in Seminyak, I got a call from an old face. Camille from Wilmington North Carolina (‘hell yeah boy, we gonna tear it up’) was in town with her silver jewelry business, and took time out to meet me. Camille, you may remember, is a friend of Josh, the Hobbit from DC (just kidding buddy, we love you), who made it out here a few times. Camille is newly married and is continuing her silver locket gig.
Camille has an original angle for making a business. She gets silver lockets made in Bali, chains made in Java, takes original photos of travels and writes a story inside each one. So far, surf shops in the US have been receptive. By the way, if somebody wants to pout in an order for 1,000 pieces, Camille would be very happy (just ask for harga pas (market price), Camille is practicing her Indonesian, so she might understand you).
I respect Camile, she definitely has a thing for Bali, and after showing her new hubby around the Bukit, (he’s a rescue diver in N.C), is planning on taking an Indo language course. I used to live in South Carolina, so can relate somewhat to where she’s coming from. Will try to meet Camille before she leaves. Was going to invite her to see the 2nd night of Dr. Lawrence Blair at Fabio’s, but 2 American females in 2 nights, is just not going to fly at home.
