Omahata art shop is located on Jl. Singasari in Kuta. The small shop is staffed by one lady, Wayan, who has a small daughter 1.5 years. Wayan told me her husband is the organizer of the business, but he doesn’t paint the art, it comes from various artists in Ubud, Kintamani and Kuta areas. Wayan said most of the artwork on sale is modern abstract and all the paintings on sale can be rolled up, to fit comfortably in luggage. Among the paintings on display, was a wave painting, with palm tress in the distance, giving that ‘surf Indo’ memory to whoever buys it. Omahara is open from 8am-10pm daily.
Wayan told me size counts when it comes to art work. Large paintings (100*120cm) are 600,000rp. Medium paintings (60*80cm) are 300,000rp and long paintings (45*120cm) are 300,000rp. Of course I was asked if I wanted a ‘business price’ for multiple items, and told I’d get a big discount, if I bought 1 item immediately.
