Toby, Maya, Ollie from Oregon and Asia, spent their last day in Bali shopping and packing. Back at the Suka Beach Inn, on Jl. Benesari all rooms were full. This location is ground zero for surfers, who arrive from the arport, check into a guest house, party for a few days, then organize a surf tour to G-Land, Lakey Peak an other places. Supporting businesses are all around including board sales / hire / ding repair, cars for rent, live-aboard operators and warungs. Toby bought a couple djembe drums, which you can find all over the place. He packed these into one of those large holdalls, together with his new bikini.
Ollie has a friend who was in Bali 2 years ago surfing. The friend left 2 surfboard in the luggage room at Suka Beach Inn, asking Ollie to bring them back. Amazingly they were still there, and Ollie has the pleasure of lugging them back to Oregon. Some airlines allow you to take 2 board for free. Other will charge $300 per board. These guys are on Garuda to Tokyo, then Northwest to Portland Oregon. At the Suka Beach Inn yesterday afternoon, the skies cleared and the Oregonians wanted to enjoy some rays. Toby is looking as dark as the day he arrived, Maya caught a little tan, as did Asia. Ollie was playing catch-up and tried his best to cook himself with 12 hours to go. I sat for a while next ot the pool, watching Toby help Maya play with plastic animals. With a teacher like that, this kid can’t go wrong.
