Sunday afternoon I picked up friends from Oregon at Ngurah Rai airport. Flying in on Garuda, they were bang on time and a taxi office ticket for 60,000rp, got the 5 of us back to Seminyak and the hotel I picked for them.
Arriving in Bali really isn’t a threatening experience, but people often feel disoriented, after a long flight, by the humidity, activity, stange language and lack of local knowledge. Seminyak was a quick 20 minute trip and soon my friends were enjoy a cold Bintang by the side of their pool. Ngurah Rai airport has a section of car rental places to the right of the international arrivals exit, as you come in. The toilets and taxi office are also to the right. To the left as you exit arrivals, is a Indonesian food place, which looks okay and a McDonalds, plus drink / snack shops. Money changers can be found inside the airport as well as outside.
