The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is museum located in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park with the hope of preserving the memory of the victims of the atomic bomb that Allied forces dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. The museum places a strong emphasis on the elimination of all nuclear weapons and international peace. Established in August 1955, the museum is the most popular of Hiroshima’s destinations for school field-trips from all over Japan and for international visitors with an average of over one million visitors per year.
