There is a interesting studio and cafe located in Asakusa, Tokyo called Ameshin 飴細工アメシン where you can see beautiful sugar sculptures and see how they are created in demonstrations. Sculptures are made with natural food dye colours, nothing artificial here!
The art of sculpting with sugar is a great traditional experience which is said to date back to the 8th century and makes a very unique souvenir from Japan.
