Some enterprising Ritsumeikan University students set up a new rental tablet company in Kyoto called ‘TRAVEL PAD’ which is making the city more accessible for foreign tourists. Contents included in service will let you manage your travel time more efficiently, and give you more of a background on the cultural sites in Kyoto.

English speaking call staff will answer your questions and solve your problems. All of this can be done through the tablet which is very convenient.
You can also used the ‘Travel Pad as a wireless broadband internet (4G LTE) to provide internet connections to your Smart phone and Laptops as well.
It only takes 30 seconds-walk from Kyoto Station to the TRAVEL PAD counter and the rental process takes about five minutes.
Cost is for the Standard rental 1,500 yen /day and for the Premium rental 1,800 yen /day.
