The City of Kobe is now providing over 3,000 “KOBE Free Wi-Fi” hotspots in main tourist areas and travel routes in the city for free as of July 31, 2014 to foreign tourists. By offering this free Wi-Fi service, the city hopes it makes Kobe 神戸市 more tech-friendly for non-Japanese tourists to explore the lovely city.
You can get a “KOBE Free Wi-Fi” card by presenting your passport and filling in a short form at one of the three tourist information offices listed below. The card will a ID and password written on it which you can use to connect to the hotspots “Wi2 300”.
“Wi2 300”is a public wireless LAN service with high-speed Internet access accessible in cities in various locations like airports, railway stations and fast food places like McDonald’s. The card is good for 7 consecutive days starting from the first login.
