Directly connected to Hon-kawagoe Train Station, staying at the 4-star Kawagoe Prince Hotel makes a great base for exploring Kawagoe city. The hotel is about one hour away from the heart of Tokyo by Seibu Railway Special Express ‘Koedo-go’ train. The 110 rooms are spotlessly clean and include western style as well as traditional Japanese tatami style rooms. Kokiden Chinese Restaurant on the second floor specializes in Cantonese cuisine and our meals here were exceptional. Lunch was a bargain at only around ¥1,800. Open weekdays from 11:30 am to-3:00 pm and 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Weekends and holidays Kokiden is open 11:30 am-9:30 pm.
Etoile Buffet Restaurant located on the 9th floor offers great views of the city while diners enjoy a all-you-can-eat, buffet-style breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Lunch is ¥1,700, dinner on weekdays is ¥2,500 and on weekends and holidays ¥3,800. Hours are: Breakfast 7:00 am-10:00 am; Lunch 11:30 am-2:30 pm weekdays and until 3:00 pm on weekends and holidays; Dinner 5:30 pm-9:00 pm (closed for dinner on Wednesday and Thursday unless a holiday).
Windsor Main Bar on the first floor is a small relaxing bar suitable for unwinding after a day of visiting sites around the city. Open from 6:00 pm until late evening daily.
The Lobby Lounge also on the first floor is great to plan your day while enjoying some entree items as well as spectacular desserts prepared by the hotel bakers. Open from 11:00 am to -6:00 pm daily.
Starbucks is open on the first floor as well serving the coffee loved by coffee lovers worldwide.
The historic Kura-no-machi area in Kawagoe can be reached within a 20-minute walk and feature Kurazukuri (warehouse) style merchant houses and Machiya-style merchant houses with senbon-goshi type of lattice. Kita-in Temple is located a 15-minute walk away and the beautifully preserved residential palace of the inner citadel of Kawagoe Castle will delight visitors. Hikawa Shrine is close by as well as Saitama Super Arena, and Omiya Park. For something different, try out the John Lennon Museum and Seibuen Amusement Park.
The Hon-Kawagoe railway station connects directly to the hotel and is seven minutes from the Kawagoe-shi Station served by the Tobu-Tojo Line and ten minutes from the JR Kawagoe Station. If you are using a JR pass and have luggage, it is worth getting a taxi to take you from JR station to the hotel. Private parking is available on site and costs ¥500 per day.
Being connected to the train station offers great shopping and dining options close to the hotel. The shopping mall Seibu Honkawagoe PePe is open from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm and has a variety of fashion stores as well as souvenir, sports and restaurants. Izakaya Big, close to Kawagoe Station, is very popular and has reasonable prices and great food. It is at 18-11 Wakitamachi and the hotel staff can point you in the right direction.
