Apple is continuing to expand its retail stores with a new store revealed under a canopy of green and white signs promoting the Omotestando, Tokyo, location. The store is located on the Omotesando avenue alongside several other high-end retailers. Japan Consuming says that Omotesando is “one of the most prestigious retail locations in Japan, rivaling Ginza.”

Trendy Omotestando is also known for its amazing modern architecture, with fashion labels like Tod’s, Dior, and Prada playing a game of one-up each other with cutting-edge building designs. Apple’s other two Tokyo stores are in Shibuya and Ginza.

With design of the store being as energy efficient and green as possible, the store will utilize a “curtain of green” consisting of plants that will be grown to cover the the building and provide a natural insulation to control the interior climate and cut energy usage. This “green curtain” apparently consists of plants.

The Omotesando location features a stunning design with three glass walls and a flat metal roof that overhangs the street. The store’s centerpiece is a large Apple logo suspended from the ceiling with the translucent, spiral staircase leading to the basement directly below the Apple logo.
