Shooting Bar EA アーカイブ is a relatively new themed restaurant and bar in Tokyo that caters to fans of Airsoft guns. Airsoft guns are replica firearms that fire BB-like plastic ammunition and have a large following in Japan as stringent restrictions on real firearms are in place. Pronounced ‘Air’ as in ‘airsoft’, the restaurant lets people unwind at a shooting range and enjoy drinks and a nice meal at the same time. The cool bar does not have a dress code so camo clothes are not a requirement. Actually you will see more skirts and pressed shirts in the ultra-fashionable Tokyo style that camo gear but feel free to dress the part!
EA is located in Kichijoji, a upscale Tokyo neighborhood that is within a five minute walk from Kichijoji Station. Among the various dishes served are pasta, steak and a selection of curries. Most of the food items have interesting names such as the“Itchy Tasty Brains” shrimp risotto and “Pio-Hazard” meat pie.
Some of the drinks on the cocktail menu include a chocolate liqueur called Glock 18c, SPAS12 with absinthe, PX4 with Absolut vodka, AK-47 with coffee liqueur and vodka, vodka-based Thomson, along with the normal selection of beer and other drinks.
Once you are seated at a table, you will be presented with the cocktail and food menus, along with the gun menu which lists all the airsoft guns available at the restaurant. There are Glocks, Sig Sauers, Colts, as well as sniper rifles and a great selection of machine guns.
The staff are really enthusiastic and will explain each gun and find one right for your style. You can even choose from another menu a list of targets to choose from. Shooting takes place in an glass-walled 33-foot shooting range to protect diners from flying bullets and after you get to take the target sheet home.
EA bar runs themes based off popular manga and movies as well. In May ’14 they have a Black Lagoon theme based on the popular manga series for the long anticipated Black Lagoon volume 10 with special drinks, guns and food!
