Though there are no gardens in Yebisu Garden Place, it is an interesting enclave in Tokyo. Built on the site of a former brewery, it is now a thriving pocket of restaurants, businesses, and residences. Be sure to visit the Yebisu Beer Museum, which explains the history of the area as well as the brewing process. There is a Mitsukoshi Department Store, the Westin Tokyo Hotel, and the Michelin 3-star Joel Robuchon French restaurant.
Yebisu Garden Place is connected to Ebisu Station by the “Yebisu Skywalk” which is easy to find. The station serves the JR train Yamanote, Shonan-Shinjuku, and Saikyo lines. It also serves the Tokyo Metro Hibiya line.
It is notable that the station was named for the brewery, though the name has a different spelling in English due to the historical pronunciation of the characters.
Yebisu is one of the seven gods of fortune, known as a protector of fishermen and a god of luck. He is recognizable by the rod and sea bream that he carries with him. Look for his laughing features all around Yebisu Garden Place. For more information: http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3028.html
