To the right and across the street as you leave Inbe Station in Bizen, Okayama, you will find the Bizen Ware Traditional and Contemporary Art Museum. It is dedicated to preserving the work of local craftsmen. There are 4 floors of gallery space, including pieces from the Kamakura Period to modern work. There is a good description of how the pottery is made, and a special exhibit highlighting the work of the “Living National Treasures” who preserve the artistic tradition.
The museum is open from 9:30 am to 5 pm. It is closed Mondays, or the following Tuesday if the Monday is a national holiday.
