Around the base of the Skytree Tower is a mall called the Tokyo Skytree Town that covers multiple city blocks on many levels. As well as boutique stores and restaurants, there is also an aquarium and planetarium. There are also many courtyards and outdoor green spaces which provide a place to rest. Most have impressive views of the Skytree Tower looming overhead.
The Minolta Planetarium is located on the 7th floor of the east section. All seats cost ¥1300. The evening shows at 8 and 9 pm feature a unique aromatherapy production with smells incorporated into the show.
The Sumida Aquarium is in the west wing, and the featured exhibit is Magellan penguins. Tickets are ¥2000 for adults over 18 years old, ¥1500 for juniors 12-17 years old, ¥1000 for children 6-11 years old, and ¥600 for preschool 4-5 years old.
In the east wing, the first through fourth floors have shops, with some cafes and numerous ice cream stores mixed in. The fifth floor has a section called the “Japanese Experience Zone” which has exhibits about Japan, arts, and the craftsmen who make them. The sixth and seventh floors have restaurants with a wide range of prices and food selections. The eighth floor has a beautiful selection of traditional handmade Japanese crafts and gift items.
The thirtieth and thirty-first floors have elegant restaurants with views of the Skytree, which are particularly beautiful at night. These floors can only be accessed by elevators from the first floor.
