The Tokyo Skytree stands 634 meters tall (about 2080 feet). Opened in 2012, it is the tallest freestanding broadcasting tower in the world, it dominates the Tokyo Skyline like no other structure. The elegant, futuristic shape is white, contrasting starkly against a blue sky and representing traditional indigo and white fabrics. Even the height takes on symbolic meaning, since six-three-four pronounced in Japanese can be read “mu-sa-shi.” Musashi Province is the historical name of the area where the Skytree is located. It is a spectacular structure at night as well, with different lighting patterns. The lights are LED, helping to reduce the environmental impact.

Visitors are welcome on two different observation areas, the Tembo Deck at 350 meters (about 1148 feet) and the Tembo Galleria at 450 meters (about 1476 feet). The Deck has a cafe, gift shop and restaurant, as well as 5 meter tall (about 16 feet) glass windows surrounding the platform, giving a 360 degree view. The highest level has even more amazing, panoramic views of the city and surrounding regions. The tower is open from 8 am to 10 pm.
