The first theme area you find when entering Universal Studios Japan is Hollywood. You will see a large, glass-roofed area and the Hollywood Dream jet coaster ride when you enter. However, this section has a lot to see and do, so be sure to take time to explore! More shows are in this area than any other in the park, but be aware that performances are in Japanese, so might be hard to follow. There are also two event spaces for special seasonal productions.

Restaurants are open until 7 or 7:30 pm, later than other places in the park, so this is a good choice for an evening meal. Be sure to check out Mel’s Drive In, which looks like it comes straight from the 1950‘s, complete with vintage cars out front. The menu reflects the theme with hamburgers and sides like french fries and onion rings. Pink Cafe is located in an Schwab’s Pharmacy building and has a nostalgic soda fountain feel. The name says it all, this restaurant is decorated in shades of pink. There are tables with umbrellas out front where you can enjoy coffee, tea, and sweets. Studio Stars has a rather limited and unusual menu with curry and chicken, plus other sides and drinks. Beverly Hills Boulangerie is open until 8 pm and has enticing pastries, soups, and salads.
If you like to shop, then the Hollywood theme area in Universal Studios Japan is the place for you. There are over 15 stores with selections of gifts ranging from candies to Sesame Street merchandise to clothes. There is also a photo developing shop where you can turn your pictures into memorable souvenirs with Universal Studios characters and logos. The buildings continue the 1950’s Hollywood design throughout the theme area.
