Conveniently located in the Kyoto Station building, the Hotel Kintetsu Station branch has the same high standards as all the hotels in the Miyako Hotel chain. Rooms are small by western standards, but new and very clean with understated décor and many convenient amenities, including closets, refrigerators, large bath tubs, and televisions. Most of the rooms are twin, though there are some doubles and small suites. Despite being directly above platform #4 of the Kintetsu line, they are also soundproofed and quiet.
There is a breakfast buffet with both Japanese and western offerings that is open from 6:30 – 10 am. Kyoto Station is closed from midnight to 5 am, but during this time you can contact the front desk via an intercom to be admitted to the hotel. Prices vary during the year, but tend to be around 1000 per night, which is very competitive for the area. The service is very good.
This hotel is designed for the business traveler, and is an excellent choice for those using public transportation. It is especially useful for catching an early train or relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. Children are welcome, but the facilities are better designed for individuals or couples rather than families. Free wi-fi is also available at the hotel for guests.
