In keeping with the underwater theme, hop aboard a cup that looks like it is decorated with colorful kelp and go for a spin in The Whirlpool in Mermaid Lagoon in DisneySea Tokyo. Dolphins and other sea life look on as cups move in a figure-8 shaped pattern. Passengers can control the rotation of the cups while following the course, which has whimsical seashell-shaped lighting. It is similar to Disneyland’s “Alice’s Tea Party” attraction, though there are fewer cups to accommodate the more complex course.
The ride lasts about a minute and a half, and no photos or videos are permitted on the ride. The motion is more aggressive than some of the other rides in Mermaid Lagoon, so may not be appropriate for extremely small children or people prone to motion sickness. However, it is an excellent choice for a younger child who enjoys some excitement. With 4 passengers per cup, a family can have fun riding together.
