Blowfish Baloon Race, Mermaid Lagoon, Tokyo DisneySea
Brightly-colored blowfish are attached to arms of this carnival-style ride located in front of the Mermaid Lagoon Theater in DisneySea. Each fish totes a shell which forms a gondola, looking like underwater blimps. The fish start to move slowly, then rise and circle faster. The gondolas swing outward due to centrifugal force, but only enough to be a little exciting and not at all scary. Though called a race, there is no competition as the fish maintain an established position.
Four people can be seated in each gondola for the minute and a half ride. Photographs and videos are not permitted, but there are no boarding restrictions. Therefore, this makes an excellent choice for the whole family, especially one with younger children.
