The Hangar Stage is an atmospheric place. The exterior is a run-down-looking building that used to house sea planes coming to Lost River Delta. You will even see a crashed plane overgrown by vines. The interior also appears to be in the process of being reclaimed by the jungle.
The current show, “Mystic Rhythms,” is a moody live performance set to drumming and tribal music. The stage has a waterfall, fires and smoke in a rocky jungle setting. Talented dancers in creative costumes enact a tale of spirits and jungle animals such as jaguars and birds. There are aerial acrobatics heightening the sense of the exotic.
The hangar theater seats 1140 people per show, and there are five performances a day. If you sit near the stage, you may catch some of the water or smoke effects, so it may be more comfortable to sit a little further back. This 25-minute performance can be fascinating for the whole family though kids under 5 can be spooked by the dark settings and explosions so sit near an exit if possible.
