Pooh’s Hunny Hunt at Tokyo Disneyland
The technology guiding Pooh’s Hunny Hunt in Fantasyland set it apart from the rest of the indoor rides at Disneyland. Instead of riding in a car along a visible track, the passengers sit in honey pots that seem to travel with no method of propulsion or guidance. The first scene shows Christopher Robin giving Winnie the Pooh a balloon, and the next is The Blustery Day. Suddenly the honey pots seem to take on a mind of their own, blowing in different directions and spinning, turning, starting and stopping. Though it appears random, the honey pots do not collide and visitors are treated to excellent views of all the scenes from the story of Pooh’s adventures.
Since this ride opened in 2000, it has been the most popular attraction at Tokyo Disneyland. The patented trackless operating system has a complex computer program guiding the movement of the honey pots, which seat up to 5 people, so that every time you take the four and a half minute ride, it follows a unique pattern. There are Pooh-themed rides at other Disney parks, but no others use this system.
Because of the ride’s wild popularity, lines can be extremely long, up to two hours. Your best chance is to use a FastPass when the park opens. If you can only be on standby, prepare for a long wait. Parade times have the shortest lines, so consider going during one of them. Everyone in the family can enjoy this ride, from children drawn into the story to parents fascinated by the technology. Photos and videos are not permitted during the ride.
