Attraction Overview
Tokyo Disneyland is arranged like a giant wheel of themed areas with Cinderella Castle at the axis. Entering the main gate you find World Bazaar, a glass-covered shopping and dining area decorated in early 20th century Americana. This section’s only ride is the Omnibus which takes passengers on a tour of the park, which can be a good way to get oriented. If you go straight through World Bazaar you can see Cinderella Castle in the area called the Hub, or center of the park. Here major live shows occur, and all the themed areas overlap to some degree.
If you turn left upon exiting World Bazaar, the first theme area is Adventureland, rich with attractions, restaurants, and shops. It blends smoothly into Westernland, which also has many things to see and do. A large concentration of the shows happen at venues in these areas and neighboring Hub.
Critter Country is the next theme area, the smallest in the park. There are only two shops, two restaurants, and two attractions, but one is the very popular ride, Splash Mountain. Critter Country is very similar in feel to the forested area of Westernland, though populated by animals of all shapes and sizes.
Continuing clockwise around the wheel, the next area is Fantasyland, which contains many of the classic rides associated with Disneyland. It is an excellent place for little children to enjoy attractions related to favorite characters like Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan. The Tokyo Disneyland park’s most popular ride, Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, is located at the far right edge as you face Fantasyland. It is next to the entrance to the Toon Town theme area.
Toon Town is bright and wacky. Near the entrance is Toon Park, similar to a city park but with soft sculptures and ground. This is a good place for children who want some free-form running and playing to break up waiting in lines and taking more structured rides. There are many food wagons in Toon Town, but only one sit-down restaurant with counter service.
The final themed area before coming full circle to the entrance in Japan Disneyland is Tomorrowland, a space-themed area envisioning the future with glittering white Space Mountain as the focus. There are many restaurants and shops in this area, but one of the biggest draws is Showbase, which has some spectacular live shows.
