This small hotel only opened at the end of 2011 but has already earned good reviews across the web. On the basis of those reviews I decided to stay here for 3 nights on a trip to Ko Lipe last month.
Harmony Bed and Bakery is a compact low-rise hotel with just 28 rooms. I stayed in one of the standard ‘cappuccino rooms’ which was small in size, but had everything I needed for a short stay. The rooms are modern, tastefully decorated and include air-con, large comfortable beds, storage space, a refrigerator and in-room safe. The bathroom was small but well-designed with an excellent shower. My only slight criticism of my particular room was there was no window, but other rooms do have windows and balconies. That said, my room did have excellent lighting and with most time during the day spent on the beach or exploring nearby islands, the lack of a view wasn’t a big issue.
As the name might suggest, there is an attached bakery serving food and drinks. The online discounted price I paid via Agoda did not include breakfast, but I did eat at the bakery on a couple of mornings where they served excellent croissants and fruit shakes
I found all of the staff in the hotel and bakery to be polite and attentive. The in-room free wi-fi was surprisingly quick and the room themselves were clean and tidy. The hotel has a tour service and is also able to book onward travel from Ko Lipe. Harmony Bed and Bakery is part of the Bundhaya group which also runs speedboats in the Andaman region. I used the reception desk to book onward boat travel to Ko Lanta for which I was charged the going rate and it was easy to arrange and the process very efficient.
Harmony Bed & Bakery is located just off Walking Street and is very close to a good range of local and international restaurants and bars. Although the hotel isn’t directly on the beach it is just a few minutes’ walk from Sunrise Beach in one direction and Pattaya Beach is a 5-minute walk away in the other direction along Walking Street.
A very good, clean and modern hotel which I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. There are cheaper options on the island and if you want a sea view, this isn’t the hotel for you. However, taking all things into consideration it is reasonable value for Ko Lipe which is a relatively expensive island to stay compared to many other areas of Thailand. My room cost approximately 1,300 Baht per night for a stay during the high season booking in advance with Agoda.
