Phuket has long-established links with the Chinese community dating back to the time when the island was known for tin mining rather than tourism. I took the photos below earlier this evening along Talang Road, an historic and charming district of Phuket Town. This area has been a focal point for the Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations on the island as the local community welcomes in the Year of the Dragon. If you are visiting Phuket, I recommend taking at least half a day to explore this quaint part of the Old Town which is a world away from the beaches and resorts for which Phuket is better known.
