Loy Krathong is one of the most colourful, romantic and beautiful festivals in Thailand. If you have the opportunity of visiting Thailand during Loy Krathong, make sure you take it. Although official festivities in Bangkok were cancelled this year because of the flood situation, it still didn’t prevent thousands of Bangkok residents from celebrating Loy Krathong. Nevertheless, there was an added poignancy this year as people paid their respects and made their apologies to the water goddess, Mae Kongkha. Elsewhere in Thailand, the Loy Krathong Festival was celebrated as always. I took the photos below at various locations in Chiang Mai over the course of the last week.
