Pai has increased in popularity in recent years with many more visitors making a beeline for the laid-back charm of this small northern Thai town. Pai is a must-see destination for many overseas backpackers, but it has also seen a surge of interest from domestic tourism since two popular romantic Thai movies were filmed in and around Pai in 2004 and 2006.
