It was five years ago today when the Indian Ocean tsunami struck with such devastating force. In Thailand, the tsunami hit the Andaman Coast with areas including Phi Phi, Khao Lak, Phuket and Phang Nga badly affected.
This morning at various locations on the Andaman Coast, locals and foreigners joined together to attend Buddhist ceremonies and remember the victims. A number of people marked the event in their own private way by floating flowers and wreaths on the Andaman Sea. This evening has seen candlelit ceremonies after which fire lanterns were released into the night sky in memory of those who lost their life.
