The Royal Asia Lodge hotel in Hua Hin is located on Petchkasem Road, but for people intending to stay in this hotel one of the most important things to note is that the Royal Asia Lodge has accommodation in two separate buildings.

The hotel reception and the main building is located on soi 78 set back from the busy Petchkasem Road. To get to the beach means you have to cross this road which can be an inconvenience if you are elderly or have young children with you. The main building has a swimming pool and prices include breakfast. Rooms have wi-fi internet access as does the lobby (I used the wi-fi from the hotel lobby and had no problems).
The cheaper rooms are in the Court Wing which is located directly on Petchaksem Road and so traffic noise is a serious consideration particularly if you have a room facing the road. That said, it isn’t unbearable and having stayed in the Court Wing recently I’d class it as a reasonable option for around 1,100 Baht per night. My room was large and clean with a balcony and the location is good. The Court Wing doesn’t include breakfast and I personally found that wi-fi in the room was very unreliable. The cleaning staff were lovely and although the security guards were less charming, they were still OK.
The Royal Asia Lodge isn’t as close to the beach as some other hotels, but it’s still only a 5-10 minute walk away. From the Royal Asia Lodge it’s a 10-15 minute walk to the night market. Going the other way along Petchkasem Road, the Market Village shopping centre is a 15-20 minute walk away. It’s also worth visiting the enjoyable nightly market (next to the Sao Paulo Hospital) which is favoured by locals and is a leisurely 10 minute walk away. During the day, buses and songthaews ply the route along Petchkasem Road which makes it quite easy to get to locations further afield such as Khao Tao and Khao Takiab.
