David Barker has taken early retirement and decided to embark on a three month trip to Australia, staying in hostels. He’s living life for the moment and proving that life does not end at 50.

Catch Up On The Journey
November 1-5: Murwillumbah – Noosa – Hervey Bay
After quick stops in Murwillumbah and Noosa, David visits the World Heritage Fraser Island, the largest sand island in the world.
October 16: Byron Bay
Leaving Alice Springs with promises to return, David heads to Byron Bay and finds there’s plenty to do if you like the beach.
October 10-12: Ayers Rock to Kings Canyon
After missing out on walking up Ayers Rock, David makes a spontaneous plan change that takes him to the spectacular Kings Canyon.
October 8-10: Adelaide to Alice Springs
The rain seems to follow David as he travels by bus to Alice Springs. Dawn in a hot air balloon is followed by a trip to the famous Uluru.
October 5-7: Barossa Valley and Adelaide
Touring Australia’s famous wine region and a kangaroo burger for lunch. Back to Adelaide for a trip to the zoo and a journey south to Hahndorf.
October 2: Adelaide
After a night in a dodgy hotel, David has a great day at Adelaide’s Central Market and a awful day on the golf course.
September 30 – October 1: Great Ocean Road to Adelaide
The spectacular drive takes in Otway Rainforest, the 12 Apostles (or is that 7?), The Balconies and McKenzie Falls.
September 26: Manchester, England to Melbourne, Australia
After being laid low with jet-lag, David gets a feel for the city of Melbourne and visits the little penguins of Phillip Island.
September 2: England
David describes the circumstances leading up to his decision to travel to Australia for three months and a tentative intinerary.
