Port Douglas has dozens of restaurants and cafés that offer the freshest seafood and dishes from across Australia, Europe and Asia. For such a small town, most people are taken aback by not only the amount of eateries here, but the high quality.

Macrossan Street is where it's at for cafés and it is accessible on foot. There are also many high profile restaurants along this main street, as well as along neighboring Wharf Street. Macrossan is also home to the Portico Shopping Center, which itself has top-end eateries, while the Marina Mirage just off Wharf Street also has high-class dining.

Flavors are mostly Australian, with great seafood and steaks, while the large Italian community in Port Douglas has also seen to it that pizza and pasta are available virtually 24 hours.

Marina Mirage

This area on Wharf Street near the center of Port Douglas is particularly good for both shopping and high-end dining. There are many swanky eateries along the boardwalk with fine views of the water and Mossman Ranges, while a glut of terraced cafés is also on hand to satisfy appetites for local fare.

Macrossan Street

Macrossan is the main street in Port Douglas and has cheaper and less pretentious eating than Marina Mirage. It mostly features cafés opened out onto the street and there are many refined corner street options that are open on both sides of the road.

Portico Shopping Center

Located at the junction of Macrossan and Davidson streets, the Portico Shopping Center is of course a good option for shopping, plus it also comes with a load of restaurants. You will find a range of eateries, from takeaways to full service restaurants, such as award-winning Finz and Zinc.

Port Douglas parks

The town is surrounded by parks and there is no better way to enjoy this subtropical paradise than with a traditional Aussie barbecue. Most of the parks here come with public barbecues and loads of space for kids to run about. One of the most popular parks is Anzac Park, which is right in town and plays host to a Sunday market.

Rainforest Habitat food

As well as being a top Port Douglas attraction, the Rainforest Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary has some good eating, in particular its champagne breakfast buffet. It is called Breakfast with the Birds and includes bacon and eggs done on the barbecue, along with exotic fruits and cereals. There is also Lunch with the Lorikeets for those who visit later in the day. The animals wander around while you eat.
